The Sint Maarten Yacht Club has kicked off its 2025-2026 sailing season with a packed calendar of programs and events designed to grow the island’s love for sailing.

In September, the club relaunched its Youth Sailing, Primary School, and Sailability programs, providing young sailors and differently-abled students with the chance to learn skills, confidence, and teamwork on the water. The programs, supported by the Gustavia Yacht Club, have seen growing participation and enthusiasm.

An October 4th Open House welcomed the wider community to experience sailing firsthand, featuring free lagoon sails, children’s activities, and family fun.

The season continued with the Soons Dinghy Regatta on October 18, where light winds made for close competition across ILCA and Optimist fleets. Clement Le Norman, Porter Cross, and J’Amari de Groote topped their respective divisions after four exciting races.

With more regattas and community sailing events ahead, SMYC says it’s full steam ahead toward another successful and inclusive season on the water.
