Tzu Chi Foundation St. Maarten wrapped up a month-long fundraising drive on October 31st, collecting US $10,184 to support families affected by Typhoon Ragasa in Taiwan, China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and nearby regions.

Volunteer teams mobilized immediately after the disaster, launching island-wide collections in public areas, neighborhoods, and outside local shops. Despite tough economic times, residents gave generously—children joined with bamboo banks, shop owners contributed, and many donors said they remembered Tzu Chi’s help after Hurricane Irma and wanted to give back.

All funds were transferred to Tzu Chi Taiwan on November 17th to support rapid relief efforts.

Commissioner Sandra Cheung said the team was moved by the island’s compassion, noting that “every donation, large or small, carries warmth across the ocean.”

Tzu Chi has served St. Maarten since 2005 through humanitarian relief, food assistance, education support, and community outreach.
