The St. Maarten National Boxing Federation is celebrating a major milestone as the island prepares to participate in the 2025 IBA Men’s and Women’s World Boxing Championships in Dubai. The Federation has expressed its gratitude to IBA President Umar Kremlev for giving St. Maarten this opportunity to compete on the world stage.

Representing the island is athlete Kesny Joseph, accompanied by national coach Saul Coffie. The duo departed St. Maarten on Saturday, November 29, with a stopover at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport before continuing on to Dubai. The championship officially begins on December 2, marking a historic moment for St. Maarten boxing.

President of the Federation, Shawn Blair, will join the delegation in Dubai on December 12 to attend the IBA Congress and witness the final bouts. He expressed confidence in Kesny Joseph, a Caribbean Champion and Champion of France, saying he hopes the athlete will make it all the way to the finals.

President Blair emphasized that this opportunity reflects the growth of boxing in St. Maarten and highlighted the Federation’s commitment to supporting local talent and representing the island with pride on the international stage.

The team and the island’s boxing community are now looking forward to seeing Kesny Joseph showcase his skills and continue St. Maarten’s rise in international boxing.
