The Police Force of Sint Maarten is ramping up its investigation into a serious armed robbery that took place late Friday night into early Saturday, November 30th. The case has raised major alarm because the suspect impersonated a police officer, wearing a yellow-and-blue polo shirt similar to the official KPSM uniform.

Police say the victim, a business owner near the Madame Estate Shopping Center, was confronted while returning home just before midnight. The suspect robbed him of keys and personal items, then escaped in a small white vehicle heading toward A. Th. Illidge Road.

KPSM calls this crime a direct attack on public trust, stressing that pretending to be an officer not only endangers the victim but undermines confidence in law enforcement as a whole.

A full-scale investigation is now underway. Detectives are working around the clock, and the force has also launched an internal review to ensure no official uniforms or equipment are missing or compromised.

Because of the seriousness of the case, police are making a strong appeal to the public. They’re asking for any information or surveillance footage from the Madame Estate area between 9 p.m. and midnight on November 30th, as well as any sightings of a small white vehicle leaving the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police station at 542-2222, call 911 in an emergency, or leave an anonymous tip at 9300.

Meanwhile, the NAPB police union is fully backing KPSM’s actions. The union strongly condemned the misuse of police identity, calling it a serious betrayal of the values officers stand for. NAPB President Marcus Pantophlet reaffirmed the union’s support for the investigation and its commitment to maintaining public trust.

Both KPSM and the NAPB are urging the community to assist in any way possible. Bringing the suspect to justice and restoring confidence in law enforcement remain top priorities.
