Crime analysts from around twenty Caribbean jurisdictions gathered in Santo Domingo for the third Regional Network Meeting for Crime Analysts, focusing on criminal networks, drug flows, financial crime, and the rising use of AI.
Organized by the Dutch Caribbean Chiefs of Police, the meeting underscored that cross-border crime demands strong regional cooperation. Analysts shared updates on firearms trafficking, homicide trends, youth violence, cybercrime, and shifting drug routes.
Experts from GI-TOC, CARICOM IMPACS, the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and FIU Aruba highlighted how technology, financial-flow analysis, and AI are becoming essential tools in fighting organized crime.
The key takeaway: criminal networks move quickly across islands, so regional intelligence sharing must move even faster. The Board of Chiefs of Police committed to continuing the RNA as an annual collaboration platform.
