Two students from St. Maarten have earned regional honors in the 2025 FCCA Foundation Children’s Essay and Poster Competitions, bringing recognition to both their schools and the country.

Kayra Balani (12) of St. Joseph School placed second in the Junior Essay Division, while Evan Reniier Amatdjais (15) of Milton Peters College won first place in the Senior Poster Division.

The winners were announced on December 19 by the FCCA Foundation, which hosts the annual competitions for students across the Caribbean and Latin America. The initiative encourages creativity and academic excellence, while also providing financial support to schools.

As part of the awards, first-place winners receive a laptop and US $3,000 for their school, while second-place winners receive a touchscreen device and US $1,500. All finalists also receive recognition awards.

The prizes will be officially presented during Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, marking another proud moment for St. Maarten’s youth on the regional stage.
