The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) officially launched the road to the crown for the Junior, Teen, and Senior Carnival Queen contestants with a sash ceremony on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Mona Lysa Lounge in Philipsburg. The event marked the formal start of preparations for Carnival 2026, celebrating the 55th anniversary of St. Maarten Carnival and emphasizing that the pageant journey represents growth, confidence, and community pride beyond competition.

Minister of TEATT Grisha Heyliger-Marten and Member of Parliament Sjamira Roseburg carried out the sashing of the Junior and Teen contestants, while reigning Senior Queen Keisy Quant sashed the Senior contestants. During the ceremony, contestants also selected their candidate numbers and were officially presented before family, supporters, and invited guests.

SCDF underscored the importance of guidance, mentorship, and positive support as contestants begin their journey toward the pageants scheduled for March and April 2026. Organizers highlighted the contestants’ role in representing youth empowerment, cultural heritage, and the enduring legacy of St. Maarten Carnival as Carnival 55 preparations move forward.
