Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure, Patrice Gumbs, marked a major step in emergency services with the handover of a new ambulance unit at the J.A. Festival Village.

The milestone was accompanied by the signing of a historic covenant with the Ambulance Department, aimed at strengthening collaboration and improving emergency response across St. Maarten.

Officials said the agreement formalizes commitments to enhance service delivery, ensure better coordination, and support the long-term development of ambulance care on the island.

The addition of the new unit is expected to boost response capacity, particularly during large public events and high-demand periods.

Authorities described the initiative as a significant investment in public health and safety, reinforcing government’s commitment to accessible and efficient emergency services.
