A new chapter in regional connectivity is taking off, as Sint Eustatius officially welcomed a new airline service connecting the island directly to St. Kitts.

The inaugural flight, operated by Dutch Caribbean Islandhopper ~ Must Go Statia, marked the introduction of a new air bridge between the two neighbouring islands. The short flight—lasting just about 10 minutes—offers a faster and more accessible travel option for residents.

The first flight carried three passengers, all of whom were traveling to St. Kitts to seek medical care, highlighting a long-standing reliance on the neighbouring island for healthcare services. Passengers described the experience as smooth, efficient and a much-needed improvement in accessibility.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance mobility for residents, particularly those seeking medical attention, business opportunities, or easier regional travel.

Officials say the service reflects growing efforts to strengthen inter-island connections and improve essential access between smaller Caribbean territories.
