A long-awaited agreement has been signed between Government and the Windward Islands Civil Servants Union–Private Sector Union, addressing key issues affecting Fire Department personnel.

The deal focuses on longstanding concerns related to job placement, career progression, and compensation, including provisions to review past discrepancies. Importantly, it also recognizes the position of retired firefighters, ensuring their years of service and unresolved issues are addressed.

Union representatives say the agreement is the result of sustained advocacy and dialogue, highlighting the resilience and unity of both active and retired members throughout the process.

While seen as a major breakthrough, officials note that discussions will continue to resolve remaining matters and strengthen the overall framework for the Fire Department.

The union says it will closely monitor implementation to ensure transparency and that the rights and well-being of all personnel are upheld.
