Sint Maarten is strengthening its financial leadership, as Minister of Finance Marinka Gumbs officially welcomed Nicole Marlin as the new Director of the local branch of the Central Bank.
Marlin assumed the role on April first, taking responsibility for the operations of the Centrale Bank van Curaçao and Sint Maarten office on the island, while also serving as its official representative.
During an introductory meeting in Great Bay, discussions focused on strengthening coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank—particularly in areas of financial oversight, regulation, and broader economic priorities.
Minister Gumbs described the appointment as a valuable addition for Sint Maarten, noting that Marlin’s experience within the Ministry, combined with her new leadership role at the Central Bank, positions her well to support effective financial governance.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strong communication and alignment, especially at a time when economic stability and sound financial management remain key priorities for the country.
The Ministry says it looks forward to working closely with Marlin as Sint Maarten continues to navigate its financial future and reinforce confidence in its economic systems.
