Story: Thousands of students across Sint Maarten are set to take part in a day of fun, fitness, and celebration as the King’s Games return this week.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport will host the 2026 edition on Friday, April 17, bringing together approximately 3,500 students from 19 elementary schools.
Held in honor of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, this year’s theme—“Everyone Fun”—focuses on inclusion and participation, encouraging not just students, but teachers, parents, and volunteers to be part of the experience.
The day will begin with a healthy breakfast provided to all students, followed by a series of sports and physical activities organized by schools and Physical Education teachers.
Each participating school will also receive activity kits to help create an engaging and festive atmosphere.
Minister of Education Melissa Gumbs says the initiative plays an important role in promoting healthy habits and active lifestyles among young people.
Organizers say the King’s Games continue to be a key event on the school calendar, combining movement, community spirit, and enjoyment for students across the island.
