Story: Senior citizens in Sint Maarten are getting hands-on support with their taxes, thanks to a continued partnership between the Sint Maarten Library and the Tax Administration.

The two organizations recently hosted their second annual tax workshop at the Belvedere Community Center, bringing together about twenty-five seniors for an interactive and informative session.

Designed specifically for persons aged sixty and over, the workshop combined practical guidance with real-life tax scenarios, helping participants better understand how to complete their income tax forms.

Leading the session was Tax Assessment Officer Marlon Kwidama, who walked attendees through the filing process and stressed the importance of timely submissions. Participants also received one-on-one assistance and had the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Tax Assessor Lorraine Boasman and Public Relations Officer Kelron Bellot were also present, engaging with participants throughout the session.

Organizers say the initiative reflects a shared commitment to community outreach and public education—ensuring seniors feel confident and informed when meeting their tax obligations.

The Library says it looks forward to continuing the collaboration, with plans already in mind for next year’s workshop.
