The Police Force and Public Prosecutor’s Office are continuing investigations connected to incidents that took place during the Carnival season.
Police say a suspect with the initials M.E.O. was arrested at his residence early Friday morning, May 15th, in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged ill-treatment and theft at Festival Village several weeks ago. The suspect was taken to the Philipsburg Police Station for questioning.
In a separate update, the Public Prosecution Service confirmed that Member of Parliament O.O. was also questioned on Friday in relation to a criminal investigation into public assault. The alleged incident reportedly took place in April at Carnival Village. The MP was later released, while a second suspect remains in custody.
Police say they are also investigating other reports of public violence and fights during Carnival.
Separately, police responded Thursday to a disturbance at a Simpson Bay restaurant involving an MP, the business owner, and another male individual. Authorities say the matter was addressed after police and the Acting Prosecutor intervened, and all parties agreed to separate.
Police say Carnival may be over, but criminal investigations connected to the season remain active.
