The Voice of the Youth St. Maarten Foundation has celebrated its Annual Rank Promotion Ceremony through its flagship program, the St. Maarten Youth Brigade.
The ceremony was held on May 22nd under the theme, “Today’s Disciplined Youth Become Tomorrow’s Trusted Leaders.”
Family members, supporters, government officials, and community stakeholders gathered to recognize the hard work, discipline, and personal growth of the young brigadiers.
Founder Zulayka Peterson highlighted the impact of the program and renewed her appeal for access to the long-requested obstacle course facility, which she says would benefit the Youth Brigade and other justice and community sectors.
Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina praised the youth for their discipline and encouraged them to remain focused as future leaders.
Justice Minister Nathalie Tackling said youth development must be treated as a national responsibility across all sectors.
Education Minister Melissa Gumbs also applauded the young participants, saying discipline is a value that helps shape character, responsibility, and national progress.
The Foundation is now marking 13 years of service to youth development in St. Maarten.
