Lucas-Felix extended sincere condolences to the victims' families, describing the tragedy as one that has deeply affected Guyanese living throughout the Caribbean. She also praised the emergency responders, volunteers, and fishermen involved in the ongoing rescue operation and called on the wider Guyanese diaspora to keep the victims, survivors, and their families in their thoughts and prayers.

The statement emphasized that although many Guyanese now live abroad, their connection to home remains unbreakable, especially during moments of national tragedy.
