A newly drilled water well in Saddlers, St. Kitts, could eventually produce up to 350 gallons of water per minute.

Initial testing recorded approximately 175 gallons per minute, but experts project output could rise to between 300 and 350 gallons once a permanent pump is installed.

That would provide roughly half a million gallons of water daily for Saddlers and surrounding communities, including Harris’ Village, Lavington and Belle Vue.

The well was drilled to approximately 640 feet, with water encountered around the 500-foot level.

The project forms part of a 28-million Eastern Caribbean dollar investment intended to move St. Kitts toward reliable, 24-hour water service.

Airborne surveys and hydrogeological assessments identified 17 possible drilling locations across the island, including communities with historically limited or intermittent supplies.
