Voters in Dominica’s Roseau North constituency went to the polls Monday in a closely watched parliamentary by-election.

Voting opened at 7 a.m. across 27 polling stations, with steady turnout reported throughout the day and police describing the process as calm and orderly.

The three candidates are Dominica Labour Party candidate Ashma McDougall, United Workers Party candidate Daniel “Danny” Lugay, and independent candidate Sherman Boston.

The election was triggered by the resignation of former Parliamentary Representative Miriam Blanchard earlier this year.

Preliminary counting was expected after polls closed Monday evening, with the official final count scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Alpha Centre.

A shout-out to everyone watching us in Dominica, where Roseau North is one of the constituencies surrounding the country’s capital.
