Former Member of Parliament Theo Heyliger remains hospitalized while doctors treat diverticulitis and a perforation involving his colon, according to his wife, Minister Grisha Heyliger-Marten.
She says he is receiving intravenous antibiotics and remains under medical supervision.
Doctors are also investigating a separate urological issue involving his bladder and prostate. Heyliger underwent preliminary testing today, and the family is now awaiting those results.
Heyliger-Marten says the family is not seeking early release or preferential treatment. She says her husband’s release date remains January 27th, 2027.
Her concern, she says, is that he receives a complete medical evaluation and appropriate care before any return to prison.
She also stressed that diet, hydration, medication and timely access to medical attention will be important if he is returned to custody.
Heyliger-Marten is asking the public to allow doctors to complete their work before drawing conclusions about his condition or next steps.
