Women across Sint Maarten are being encouraged to register for free breast and general health screenings being offered this fall.
The screenings are being organized by the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, with support from the Ministry of Public Health and the Positive Foundation.
The first screening will take place on October 3rd, with another scheduled for November 28th.
Women ages 18 and older can receive checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, vision, height and weight, along with a breast examination by a board-certified physician.
Organizers say the goal is not only early detection, but also education about breast-cancer risks, warning signs and ways to reduce those risks.
The results may also help shape future breast-screening guidelines for Sint Maarten.
Women who have not taken part in previous AUC breast screenings are especially encouraged to register.
