Volunteers on both sides of the island are being called out this weekend for the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup.

The first cleanup will take place Saturday, September 19th, from 7 to 9 a.m. at Little Bay Beach and Pond on the Dutch side.

A second cleanup will follow Sunday, September 20th, from 7 to 9 a.m. at Anse de Sable near La Belle Creole on the French side.

The annual event is part of a global Ocean Conservancy initiative involving volunteers in more than 120 countries.

Participants will not only collect trash, but also record the types of debris found using data cards or the Clean Swell app.

Organizers say that information can help guide anti-littering policies, recycling efforts and marine conservation programs.

Students needing community-service hours and businesses looking to participate as teams are also being encouraged to register and take part.
