Barbados is hosting the Third CARICOM Regional Conference on Reparations, bringing together government leaders, scholars, civil society representatives and reparations advocates from across the Caribbean, Africa and the global African diaspora.

The conference runs from September 17th to 19th in Bridgetown and is the first major CARICOM reparations conference in more than a decade. The first regional conference was held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2013, where the CARICOM Reparations Commission was formally launched. A second followed in Antigua and Barbuda in 2014. This year’s gathering is focused on moving the reparations movement from advocacy toward implementation. Delegates will examine the revised CARICOM Ten-Point Plan for Reparatory Justice, assess international progress, strengthen links with the African Union and diaspora organizations, and develop action plans for 2027 through 2031. Organizers also expect the conference to advance frameworks for reparations payments, archives and the proposed Bridgetown Action Plan. Regional Conference on Reparations

St. Martin will also be represented. Dr. Rhoda Arrindell will attend as a delegate representing the ONESXM Association, an Associate Member of the Caribbean Reparations Commission.

Organizers expect approximately 150 to 200 delegates to take part in the three-day gathering. Regional Conference on Reparations
