A maintenance employee has been hospitalized with severe burn injuries following a workplace incident at a resort on Sunday morning.
Police and emergency medical personnel were called to the property after receiving reports that a male worker had been badly burned during maintenance activities.
The employee was treated at the scene before being transported for further medical care.
KPSM says officers secured the area and carried out preliminary checks, but there are currently no indications of criminal activity.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been determined.
The Fire Department of Sint Maarten is now responsible for investigating how the incident occurred and what may have caused the burns.
Authorities say additional information will be released when available.
Police have also extended wishes for the employee’s recovery.
