The Caribbean Music Awards made its Trinidad and Tobago debut this year, with Kes and Lady Lava among the biggest winners at the ceremony in Port of Spain.
Kes was named Male Soca Artist of the Year, while Lady Lava took Female Soca Artist of the Year and also won Zess Artist of the Year.
Jamaican dancehall artist Ayetian secured his first Caribbean Music Award, taking Best New Artist, while Grenada’s V’ghn won Jab Artist of the Year.
Dominica’s Ridge captured Bouyon Artist of the Year, highlighting the range of Caribbean genres represented at the event a category st martin’s own BRG Hollywood was nominated for.
Ghanaian artist Moliy also made history as the first Ghanaian artist to win a Caribbean Music Award, following the success of her “Shake It to the Max” remix.
The ceremony also honored major Caribbean music figures, including Calypso Rose, Alan Cavé, Patra and Shyne.
