Princess Juliana International Airport has once again welcomed rescued puppies as part of its Paws in Flight Saturday initiative, a collaboration with SXM Paws to help connect rescued dogs with adoptive families abroad.

The latest visit featured Asher, Theo and Felix, three puppies currently available for adoption. The dogs received attention from passengers and KLM cabin crew members who stopped to meet and cuddle them before departure.

Over the past year, more than 100 puppies and rescued dogs have been transported through PJIA as part of overseas adoption and relocation efforts.

SXM Paws relies on volunteers, foster families, donations and community support to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome stray and abandoned dogs. Once a suitable home is found abroad, air transportation becomes an important final step in the adoption process.

PJIA says the initiative also gives travelers an opportunity to learn how they can help, whether through adoption, fostering, volunteering, donating or becoming a flight companion for a rescued dog.

The airport says its partnership with SXM Paws demonstrates how air connectivity can support community initiatives and create opportunities beyond the island.
