Sint Maarten has signed a new 2026 to 2031 Country Cooperation Strategy with the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.
The six-year framework is intended to support the country’s national health priorities and the Ministry of VSA’s broader health strategy.
It focuses on three main areas: strengthening people-centered health care, reducing noncommunicable diseases and mental health conditions, and improving disease surveillance and control of communicable diseases.
The strategy also includes work on digital transformation, health equity and emergency preparedness.
Health Minister Claret Connor said one of the major priorities is improving Sint Maarten’s ability to collect, connect and use health data to guide public health decisions.
Connor also spoke on behalf of the four countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands during discussions on antimicrobial resistance.
The Kingdom statement emphasized prevention, responsible antimicrobial use and stronger cooperation across human, animal and environmental health.
