Police say a loaded Glock firearm was seized during preventative controls in St. Peters on Sunday night.

The KPSM Flex Team was carrying out searches in the area at approximately 10:30 p.m. on October 4th when officers stopped and searched several individuals.

During one of those searches, police say a male suspect was found in possession of the loaded firearm, which was described as ready for use.

The weapon was seized and the suspect was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters in Philipsburg for questioning as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, KPSM has confirmed that the Simpson Bay Police Substation is fully operational and serving residents, businesses and visitors.

Police say the substation remains an important part of maintaining public safety in one of Sint Maarten’s busiest residential and tourism areas.

KPSM is encouraging the public to cooperate with preventative controls and report suspicious activity or information involving illegal firearms.
