The University of St. Martin is continuing efforts to strengthen access to higher education, both on campus and through outreach to local schools.
USM welcomed its new Caribbean Foundation Year cohort with a two-day orientation programme designed to prepare students for college life, academic expectations and the university’s support systems.
Students were introduced to faculty, campus services, library resources, counselling support and USM’s online learning platform, while alumni also returned to share advice about transitioning from secondary school to university.
At the same time, USM continued its outreach programme with a visit to Ocean View Academy under the message “Dream Big. Study Local. Go Far.”
Students there learned about different pathways into higher education and heard directly from USM student and Ocean View Academy alumnus Christopher Rogers about his own transition into college.
USM says the goal is to help young people better understand the opportunities available locally and begin planning earlier for their educational and career goals.
