More than 300 supporters joined Aqua Mania Adventures’ annual Pink Sunset Sail on October 3rd, filling four boats in Simpson Bay in support of breast cancer awareness.

The event brought together returning participants, new supporters, sponsors and local businesses, with nearly 100 businesses donating more than 240 raffle prizes.

Proceeds from the sail benefit the Elektralyets Foundation and Positive Foundation, supporting breast cancer education, awareness and early detection initiatives.

This year’s event raised more than 11-thousand dollars.

Positive Foundation President Shelly Alphonso, who is undergoing treatment following her own breast cancer diagnosis, returned to the event this year and emphasized the importance of early detection.

Funds raised will also help support initiatives including 100 free mammograms for eligible uninsured women.

Organizers say the Pink Sunset Sail has grown into an annual community tradition honoring survivors, remembering those lost and encouraging both women and men to prioritize screening and early detection.
