The Sint Maarten Police Force is marking 16 years of service while also rolling out a new virtual training program aimed at strengthening officer preparedness and decision-making.

Ahead of its official anniversary on October 10th, KPSM held a special gathering with the Police Union Board to recognize officers and staff for their service and sacrifices.

Police Chief Carl John thanked members of the force for their commitment and also paid tribute to the late Officer Keri Hyman.

At the same time, KPSM has launched a virtual training program in partnership with the Dutch Police Academy.

The system is designed to help officers practice responding to dangerous and complex situations, improve decision-making under pressure and strengthen professional skills. One KPSM officer has already been certified to deliver the training locally, with the program expected to be fully finalized in 2027.

KPSM also marked Cancer Awareness Month by allowing officers and staff to wear pink T-shirts in solidarity with patients, survivors, families and caregivers.
