Road safety concerns are again being raised in Maho, where potholes are reportedly reappearing ahead of the upcoming tourist season.
The issue comes just months after the Joint Court of Justice ordered government to pay more than 44-thousand U.S. dollars to an American tourist who was injured after falling into a pothole on Nile Road in 2021.
The court found that the road had a public character and that government was responsible for its maintenance.
VROMI Minister Patrice Gumbs has said a second countrywide road survey is underway to identify potholes, uneven sidewalks and other hazards, with the most urgent repairs to be prioritized.
Where immediate repairs cannot be completed, the Ministry says temporary measures such as signage, barriers and monitoring may be used.
Government has also outlined several road rehabilitation projects for 2027, including work on Union Road, Third Garden Road and Juancho Yrausquin Boulevard.
For now, however, VROMI has not announced a specific repair date for the potholes currently raising concern in Maho.
